I’ve been on a morning smoothie kick lately and wanted to share this recipe with you guys. It’s so good that I make it for a snack too! This smoothie is perfect to give you a little jump start in the morning with the simple sugars from the banana, healthy fats from the avocado, and the kale or spinach is full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. I prefer kale over spinach when it comes to taste. Did you know kale is the MOST nutrient dense leafy green? Set your tone for a healthy day and try this smoothie!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 frozen banana
2-3 cups of spinach or kale
1 tsp of vanilla
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Your milk of choice and amount for desired consistency (I use about 3/4 cup to 1 cup)
As with any recipe, you can tweak the ingredient portions to play to your palate. Don’t be shy with the cinnamon either! It’s a great way to boost the flavor if you need to make it less bland.
Pro tip: If you freeze some bananas, take the peels off first. Yes, I learned the hard way with this one. It’s really hard to peel frozen bananas, not to mention COLD!
If you’re a true blue mermaid, you can replace the greens with sea kelp! 🙂 Enjoy!
