Hello there! Here’s a tad bit more about myself. Scroll to the bottom if you want the short and sweet version. My name is Amanda Prager and I’m 24 years old. I grew up in the quaint little town of Greenville, Ohio. I grew up loving school, orchestra, competitive swimming, and volleyball. I started playing violin in 5th grade and have yet to stop. I’ve played for numerous occasions, including weddings, a country artist’s single, and art events.
I joined the Air Force in August of 2010 when I was 18 years old and I became an F-22 crew chief, which is basically a mechanic. I was in a year long marriage at the young and dumb age of 19. Now 5 years later, I am in a happy and loving relationship with my daughter’s handsome father, George. We met on the job in 2013 and began dating later that year. It’s been a wonderful adventure ever since! Our daughter’s name is Norah and she was born in April of 2015.
Later this year, I will be leaving the Air Force! The plan is to finish school, blog, and raise our daughter. I am so thankful that I will be able to spend more time with Norah before she starts school.
I absolutely LOVE to be near the water, so the panhandle is the PERFECT place for us. I know George’s job may send us elsewhere, but I’m enjoying our time here immensely. It’s also great because mermaids are so abundant in the area and fuel my passion/obsession for them! I actually found a whole line of mermaid ornaments at a shop here that are themed from nurses to Native Americans! They were hilarious! Who can say they’ve seen a mermaid Cherokee Chief?
Another passion of mine is beer. Not just any beer, but craft beer. I am a dark beer kind of gal, but I do indulge in the occasional cider or fruit beer. One of my bucket list items is to do the Oregon Beer Trail one day! Before my daughter was born, I liked going to craft beer festivals or small breweries to try different beers. If it’s a hoppy beer, count me out! I’m a frequent user of the Untappd app. My username is PragerBeer if you want to friend me and check out what I’ve been drinking! I highly suggest using the app to research new beers before you try them.
One big thing about me is my need for sunshine. I can’t stand being inside all day. I have to go out exploring or take Norah for a walk or run almost every day. Saturday mornings are my favorite! I can walk to the local farmer’s market and buy all of our fruits and vegetables for the week. Sometimes they even have a puppy bus! The puppy bus, as I call it, is a bus re-purposed to transport the local shelter dogs around to get adopted. It’s basically heaven on wheels!
Speaking of wheels, George and I are pretty fond of the idea of tiny house living later in life. We both feel that we’d rather spend our money on experiences rather than a mortgage. We also like the idea of self-sustainability. I’d do the tiny house on wheels now if we could figure out how to do it with a toddler!
I try to eat healthy and usually cave in when it comes to sweets. We are big on eating local and organic as much as possible. As for working out, I do what seems enjoyable or allows me to spend the most time with my daughter. Running with her in our BOB stroller usually wins out. I mostly did weight lifting before Norah was born and while I was pregnant. I started lifting weights early on with my mom and step-dad, Steve, who was a power lifter. I tend to feel guilty if my work outs take time away from my daughter. It’s irrational and I know I can put my health higher on my priorities, so I’m trying to find that sweet balance and not be ridiculous. Oh, how motherhood changes us!
Summary: I like beer, my kid, my boyfriend, mermaids, attempting to be healthy, and the outdoors, in no specific order.
Thanks for stopping by!
